MY FIRST PSALM

I cry out from the depths of my soul
to the Lord my maker.
I lay my bare stripped life upon your alter.
I bear the burden,
in sacrifice to you
so your glory can be revealed.
My eyes rise from my pits of despair
to look upon your mountains Lord.
Heavens upon heavens of mercy and grace.
Splendor and majesty are yours alone O Lord;
Your glory fills the skies.
Though my heart is broken by Satan's fiery darts
I will stand in awe of you.
Engulf O Lord your beloved people
With your angels of delight.
Carry your broken people
on your eagles wings,
to your resting place.
Clouds of smoke rise against me,
Rocks fall upon my paths.
Yet I will praise you my Lord
Because you are a righteous and holy God,
Slow to anger and rich in love.
I walk through your valleys
Stumble on the rough ground
But my eyes are fixed on you my Lord
For you make my paths straight.
I yearn with all my soul
To be drenched in your love by your spirit.
My sins are as scarlet but you wash them away
You are my everlasting Father,
Whose love never fails.
Precious and honored is your name,
King of kings and Lord of Lords.
I exalt you O Lord and lift you high
So your glory is seen by all.
