SLOWLY GO THE SLEEPLESS HOURS

*~*~*~*

Slowly go the sleepless hours in the quiet of the night.

Juxtaposed the fleeting moments of a life soon to take flight,

Softly-faded memories transpose passions; lost before their time,

No longer are the feelings captured; that were, once, oh, so sublime.

Slowly go the sleepless hours, yet my heart yearns to forestall

Those soft-fading memories of love I can not recall.

Where must be the rhyme or reason; memories lost must bring to bear?

Does the heart understand the passion?

Does the heart really care?

Answers to these questions still elude me, so I gently close my eyes,

Peaceful sleep; a mind well rested; perhaps then I'll realize.

Only the Lord understands fully, what this heart so sorely yearns.

‘Tis so simple, for ‘tis only~~~Just to love and be loved in return.
