When You've Lost Your Best Friend
What shall I do
since I've lost my best friend?
Trust was abused
causing all to up-end.
Perhaps we are simply
succumbing to fate,
or maybe we went past
the ole' "sell by" date.
I try to fill up
that hole in my heart.
To occupy hours
new hobbies, I start.
I carry on bravely,
put on that big smile.
Emotions do fip flops
inside, all the while.
I reach for the phone,
without even thinking.
Sometimes a chocolate binge
helps me from sinking.
There's always a bottle
of Scotch to partake,
but after a few,
I can't stay awake.
The chocolate and booze
allow me to frolic,
but who wants to be
a fat alcoholic?
The only thing left to do
is move on
to Bobby, or David,
then again, there is Sean.
Lets put on our dancin' shoes
now I've got time.
I just want to warn you,
this girl's in her prime.
A word to my best friend,
who chose to depart,
It isn't an ending,
for me, its my start!
