Gaze thru my window at the moon so bright,
Why in the world can't I sleep tonight?
Tick tock goes my clock, mind's all a-whirl!
Thoughts drift way back to when I was a girl.
In the dark hear the bark of every dog in town,
Eyes squeezed shut tight, I can only frown;
To the sink for a drink, breathe a deep sigh,
Wide awake in my bed, all night long I lie.
Aww the beginnings of approaching dawn,
I tiredly start to stretch and yawn,
Fatigue through my body slowly does creep;
"This is such a raw deal, now I need some sleep!"
I close my eyes and think, "I'll rest for just a minute,"
Alarm sounds. "Oh, no!" There's a warning in it!
Sit up in bed, clear my head, to the floor I climb,
Blink quick, feel sick, because I see the time;
Aw, man, late again! I feel like such a jerk;
Turn around, sit down. Don't wanna to go to work!
