Release Me

Running from time,
that chases me away.
Hiding from the shadows,
and words the voices say.

Every tiny piece,
that forms my heart and soul.
Is scattered on the ground,
or deep within a hole.

I'd run a thousand miles,
then take just one step back.
Knowing my eyes are open,
but all I see is black.

Every night they get much closer,
and there's nothing I can do.
Fear felt so overwhelming,
that one even cannot move.

Locked within a cage,
walls built of eerie silence.
Trying to find the key,
and break these chains that bind me.

Searching for a shelter,
to shield me from this pain.
Yet nothing can protect me,
as they lay me in my own grave
