God's Most Beautiful Angel-A Mother's Grief

9000 Miles

I thought I could run away.
Distance to ease the pain.
Hiding...sweating...I should have stayed.
Leaving you behind four months at a time...alone...in disdain.

The journey...like death...a predetermined destination.
Only sand and rock beneath my feet.
I left without a second glance or a moments hesitation.
Almost five years now. I still can't fade the heat.

Extreme as the day I watched them put you in the ground.
My mind as numb now as then.
Searching for that sense of self I've not found.
Ending what was hoping to begin.

Refresh...renew...revive
What?
Strained beliefs because I am alive.
You're not.

9000 miles.
No difference.
