Poetry For Everyday People

Anything For You

I'm sitting here thinking
how we're going to make it
the next few days?
doing gas/food math in
my head,

eight dollars gas,
cereal , whole chicken,
milk, rice, coffee, we're good,
we're good,

she comes to me,
Dyl needs money,
I'm thinking
we don't have any,
she knows
but can't say no
to Dyl, she's holding on
for one last hope
she expects me to
pull money out of
a rose, a hat, a
magic box...

and I do.
