Of Saladin and Charlemagne
Incalculable seconds the intrusions last
Leaving battlefields of bloody slain
Crusades fought through my sleeping eyes
Battles won and battles lost
Are played out beneath clear blue skies
Death and destruction the heavy cost
From olden times or more contemporary age
Fitful slumber transposes each bloody war
For time untold the conflicts rage
The glorious dead naught but rotting gore
