I Still See You

an oldie I wrote a long time ago on father's day

I Still See You

You turn off the light, kiss me good night
and I know with a smile on my face
I will be alright
oh I can't wait to grow up
find my own life
but don't worry daddy
I still will need you
don't worry daddy
if I am gone
I still see you

I know sometimes
we take each other for granted
always assuming
never knowing
it takes a special moment
and I know this bond is permanent
because you and I are in some ways
like two peas in a pod
words don't always have to be said
it's cool dad
we acknowledge each other with a nod

and I know part of you
has made me incredibly strong
in your absence I learned to cope
but my love for you can never be broken
of this I truly know
you taught me to walk
I taught you to run
daddy, come on smile
that was just a joke
I still will need you
don't worry daddy
and when I am gone
I still see you....
