 God's Love Through Poetry

Old Glory's Colors

Each stitch was sown with love and care
with colors of faith and hope to see
just how the captives where set free.

The stars where from a night long ago
where a babe laid in the draft of a barn
a star led the Sheppard's to the place
in which He was ultimately born.

The color red was for what was destin to be
for the Son of God willing gave His life free
He would be dragged to an old rugged cross
there He would shed His blood for you and me.

The color white was that of purity
He stood without blemish  or sin
but He would become sin in flesh
so victory overcome death to win.

The color blue was the bruised body
with a crown of thorns He was set on parade
love, strength, and courage was given
for each stripe that was made.

We look at Old Glory as she
fly's in our nations breeze
for the faith in which they fought
as they bowed on their knees.
