"Independence day - Whatever happened to free will?"
(Trying to wear the shoes of others and preying on the emotions of loss)

An outsider from within the family
Watching and learning, paying extra close attention
For a distant day to make his final move
While deterring any and all others in the end
She's a pawn on his chess board
And he is the king of the castle
Befriending a most beautiful wholesome hearted woman
Giving the impression of a caring friend

In this game of life, you can be anyone you want to be
Write your own fairy tale, story book ending
All it takes is imitating the likes of another
As you walk a mile in someone else's shoes
Do whatever it takes, no matter what
To get what ever you want
And disregard what anyone else needs
Leaving her to sing her broken hearted blues

What's his is his, as he doesn't share well with others
Nothing is gonna stop him, from what he so badly wants
In his own words, The Beast never fails
After all, he deserves it, according to his mind's confession
He's been her own Private Detective
Keeping an eye upon her from upclose and afar
With surveillance cameras precisely placed
Focused 24/7 on his prized possession

Determined to do whatever it takes to get his way
Not considering anyone else's feelings that weren't his own
I couldn't deny his love for her, one sided at most
He made that very clear from the beginning to me beseech
Yet she was left in the darkness of his intentions
And never expected this ending of her distant fate
Where one day, she would push away the smile her heart loved and knew
Just so he could keep her within his arms reach

Doing ‘things' for a friend isn't the same as love's ‘little things'
Never confuse the two, as they are complete opposites
One happens for absolutely no reason at all, the other has an agenda attached
Love is unconditional, it's pure and founded with faith and trust
It is only given straight from the heart, never demanding anything in return
Love is accepted in the soul of the unity of two, not expected in the mind of one
It takes 2 to become 1, as you cant choose someone else's choice, or can you?
The beauty of life, is allowing nature to take its own course, with love, not lust

Disregarding the smile in her heart, and glow deep within her soul
Not knowing the difference between wants and needs
As his wants always over-ruled other people's needs
He may have a key to her house, come and go as HE pleases
Invade her privacy, try to break thru the walls protecting her heart
Even try to fit into the shoes, as he
Pretends to replace her other half, that she so tragically lost
In time she will learn to let go of her dreams and desires
Finally breakdown and hand him a fake duplicate one
But he will never hold the key to her soul‘s home, forever keeping them apart

Once upon a time I poured out my emotions in verse
Got down on one knee and I asked a question
Without hesitation, her answer was ‘well yeah', of course
As she was inlove and looked forward to her forever and a days
To accept her happiness and be elated for her
Would mean failure of his targeted and plotted out plan
When he learned of this proposal and answer
He slyly tried on my shoes, and duplicated it in his own selfish ways

Hiding emotions behind actions, and never expressing the heartfelt words
Taking her for granted, and  assuming she felt the same
He could never break through to her heart, as that now belonged to another
He can stroll in my shoes along the beach, hold hands and dance in the rain
Speak of ‘forever and a days', and use my heartfelt words in verse
He can play the role of her first and ever lasting love
And portray her second and final destiny
Yet what he will never know and never feel the truth in her love
The way I have, as it was reciprocated from the depths of her soul

As a last ditch effort he threatened to walk in his own shoes
And throw their so called friendship away
With her mind and heart lost, torn and confused, she couldn't let him
In order to keep the friends-only-ship alive, she chose her own pain over his
And threw away the love of her new life's beginning
He didn't care that she was so very happy inlove with another
As he finally got what he wanted all along
The woman he could never express his true feelings to
Until, she found her lost self, and her forever and a day destiny
Now left with only the hopes that she will someday find her happy place and survive

No matter the pains, no matter the price
He always gets what he wants, no matter what
A choice between her soul's destined mate
Or keeping it in the family when love is lost
Conceding to a one sided love affair
Along with the sadness in her broken saddened eyes
And make believe smile upon her face
Her free will, is all that it will cost

As she has now made her final choice
Which I will honor and respect, and not scream or pout
To settle for a love she can merely learn to live with
And discard a love she will never be able to live without
