"Proud of You"

Each night I lay in bed to ponder and shed a tear,
Knowing You are now You, and are no longer near.

Four children together, we created,
That part of us, will never grow outdated.

I will cherish the fact that you are still my best friend,
And that we will remain that way to the bitter end.

Nor will I forget all the bad and good that we shared,
I could never be angry, knowing all along how you cared.

My pain is slowly turning into respectful wisdom,
Though it is difficult accepting my newly found freedom.

I no longer dream or wish for a new life together,
Except when it comes to being friends forever.

My goal in life has become one without legality,
Making You happy within your life become a reality.

Your beautiful eyes are now lit up so big and bright,
And your smile echoes your face just right.

It's nice to know you have finally found that inner glow,
An aura about you, I never let myself know.

I realize how you have struggled and yearned,
But everything you now have has been painsakingly earned.

I raise my glass and toast you anew,
I am so very, very Proud of You.
