Mighty Hunter

Ethin watched the Elders prepare
for their daily hunt
he said, "I want to go"
His Dad would merely grunt
Ethin just kept asking
his father said, "stay and play
never rush your youth
you'll be a man one day"
With the elders out of sight
Ethin said, "I'll show them all
I'll get the biggest beast!"
he felt he was ten feet tall
He grabbed his bow and arrows
to the forest he now raced
he was a mighty hunter
whatever dangers he faced
First he tracked a mouse
then he spied a rat
saw black wings flying
a big ole scary bat
Next he saw an owl
then a great big dog
now a slimy green thing
a silly ole tree frog
then he saw a squirrel
and walked up on a coon
next he spied an ugly bird
he thought it was a loon
He then saw a deer
out jumped a little hare
then he heard a mighty growl
there stood a grizzly bear
Ethin took off running
yelling," help me please!"
dived into a knot hole
full of honey bees
Ouch he started yelling
honey covered his face
boy those bees were angry
they stung his sit down place!!
The bear finally caught up
saw the honey gave a smack
lucky for the little boy
twas the bears favorite snack
Ethin ran home quickly
put his bow and arrows away
he wasn't ready to be a man
a lesson learned the hard way
