Reflections of My Perceptions

Jamaica

long has it been since i have found myself upon its shores
yet the itch of its sand still frustrates my pores
the sounds of its music wanders the world's corridoors
but it is not quite the same as hearing it where it was born
not merely am i attracted to their wondrous, physical forms
but also the innocence of its women, often lost when they move abroad
the beauty of its beaches are legendary, but i find myself torn
for i am fascinated by the chaos to be found amongst its market vendors
on top of its hills, green and lush you might try to knock on heaven's door
but you will probably stop and wonder whether heaven could possess more?
the scent of m******* at times might elevate your very core
but not quite like gazing upon Kingston from hills, high above its war
you will be amazed by its people, you might forget that most are poor
you will lose yourself in Ochi, Montego Bay, Negril, Dunns River Falls
fourteen parrishes within these passages for you to now explore
Jah Mek Yah, mon, truer words were never stated, me know sey fi sure
