A star shone in the heaven bright,
and they followed that celestial light.
"Behold!" The angel cried to them,
"This is your Lord, come worship him."
A song rose into the winter sky,
and grew to a chorus by and by.
"Behold! A child a wondrous sight,
is born to men this Holy night."
On he slept and loved us all,
but through his life he heard another call,
Now they pray on bended knee,
to the Savior, the Son of liberty.
Mary watched as one by one,
they presented gifts to her tiny son.
A tear held fast to her tender eye,
for us to live, he had to die.
I with my heart so set afire,
will watch the heaven and never tire.
To see the sight they once saw,
would fill my soul with everlasting awe.
On he sleeps, taken from this world,
at times if I listen I can hear the song unfurl.
When the stars shine so bright,
each and every Christmas night.
