Different Seasons
There were birds and bees and butterflies,
dancing in your summer eyes.
Yet only I could recall,
how much we loved in the fall.
Now there are different seasons,
and I wonder at the reasons,
of sweet deceptions, little white lies,
masked beneath your summer eyes.
There were rainbows and green grass growing,
in those kisses you were blowing.
Yet, I seemed to remember,
a love shared in September.
Now there are different seasons,
and I wonder at the reasons,
for constant appraisal, unending quips,
which fall from your summer lips.
To a very special friend Rich Carlton I say, "Thank you. The Mistress has two new play toys!"
