Minding My Own (also in audio)
I'm being charged
For minding my own business
In my own home
Why won't they leave us alone?
I am an introvert
No one has ever paid attention
To me
I live in a home
Hidden by bushes, trees and weeds
I have a sick mother
Whom I love dearly
She depends on me
And I've made that clearly
Our neighbors don't like us
Consider us strange
Cast as outsiders
Scorn upon and called names
I heard this noise
Thought it was at my door
Have to be careful our house
Has been broken into before
Wait! there are some people
On my property
Have to get my gun
To protect my mother and me
Its dark outside
I'll just shoot in the air
Ain't trying to hurt anyone
Just give them a scare
The night stood still
I went to bed
I awoke with an officer
Standing over my head
You're under arrest
For shooting a girl
I said Oh! My God
And my head twirled
A carload of kids
Targeted me as a prank
The bullets had hit one
My mind went blank
Handcuffed and shackled
Off to jail
No mercy from officials
Bond high as hell
Why didn't they just leave us alone?
In our own home
My fate looks doom
For minding my own
Business. . . . .
