Heavy Heart
My heart is oh so heavy
For the one I hold so dear.
He will not see the truth,
Cares not about my tears.
He fails to see the evil,
The deceit and the lies,
Of those he welcomes to his bed.
He ignores all that is wise.
He seeks the false and fleeting
From these women of the night.
He fails to see the truth,
Doesn't think about what's right.
He risks his health and very life,
Cares nothing for the real.
He fails to see the danger
And knows not his fate he'll seal.
Shame and degradation,
And emptiness of heart,
He loses self respect.
But from these ways he will not part.
I fear the day I know will come,
The day he sees what's real.
I fear it will be much too late,
And his heart will never heal.
I am the one who sees his heart
And the fears that he holds there.
But my love is ever constant
And he knows that I care.
He fears my heart so full of love,
The depth and strength and truth,
And the friendship held within.
And all he knows is true.
He fears the word commitment
And the joy to be found there.
Afraid to let his heart love
Afraid to even care.
He dares not see the joy he'll miss
Or that happiness abounds,
In the one where all is truth
And true love can be found.
So he'll continue on this path
And heavy my heart will be.
Until he opens up his heart
To all the love inside of me.
