M's Poetry

With Guitar I Wait

For my cousin Ross, RIP. He played guitar and before his death, he had started playing in a Christian rock band. This is a tribute to him.

With Guitar I Wait

The true tragedy is not death itself
it's letting time slip away
and being so careless
for not being closer
for not letting the love in
I am below now seeing my loved ones mourn
daddy speaking through choked tears
recalling the day I was born
and my pastor giving those sweet words
saying I am in heaven
joy is now much differently viewed
my twenty five years are through
God says it is finished
I now rest......

The pews are packed, the front room is full
the life I had is being celebrated
to all those that I knew
my family, my friends
the guitar I carried with me
in heaven now I am playing
a song that I used to sing
I sing now with the angels

Last Sunday I was saved
now I am cremated in my earthly grave
daddy just put me on the mantle
through tears that come down like rain
even so I am still smiling
to all my loved ones
goodbye is just for now
hello awaits around the corner
I will sing you into the gates....
