The Mistress of Word Play

He was the one of the great idols,
of my daughter and the younger crowd.
He could sing the words softly,
but most of the time he sang them loud.

Some of the words I could not understand,
but yet some of his songs I came to comprehend.
I came to love the soulful sounds,
I am older, my stance seems I have to defend.

Tupac's songs were about his life.
If the words were not beautiful, can you see why?
Think of the hardships he had to overcome,
yet some of his music made me smile and cry.

It was sad when he left this world,
senseless, tragic death which took his life.
One of the kings of the younger generation,
cut from the world by the reaper's knife.

Dear Mama is still one of my favorite songs.
He was master of the rhyming word.
He was one of those special spirits,
who was too good for this world.
