Reflections of My Perceptions

Let Me Tell You of Love

i am drawn to you, my lioness,
like a honeybee following the scent of pollen in the air
i know not whether i wish to simply suckle upon your sweet flower
or to consume it so that its sweetness can be enjoyed by no other

i am in the grips of a most confounding love
one through which i cannot be liberated
until i am securely confined within the depths of your heart and soul

a sickness which cannot be cured until I overdose
from indulging in the very cause of my sickness

a love that would have me keep you to myself
but still wants the whole world to know you are mine

a love which would have me wandering, hopelessly lost,
yet which still fills me with a sense of purpose and direction

the only love for which can satiate my eyes' hunger for beauty
yet which forces me to gaze upon others to remind me of its perfection

the frustrations of this love only reminds me
of the lack of fulfillment from love easily obtained

a love which reminds me of my strength
for it forces me to accept my vulnerability

a love strong enough to break down my heart's fortification
yet so gentle as to heal its wounds and contusions

a love which i cannot comprehend
yet for some reason it just makes sense

truly a heart worth of conquering, this would be a victory to savor
thus i will keep on fighting until your you allow me to share your soul
