Our Vibe

Is it crazy?
I wanna save us?

can't we just go
back to the bars
the heavy metal
four bands a night
show starts at 11:00 pm
by four we were past out
in each others cars or
eating at Denny's, going
to some body's house to
listen to bootleg records,
waking up new friends,

all you girls in leather,
high heels, smoking with
me in the parking lot,
I see you pushing shopping
carts at grocery stores
and I still
love your spirit, then
and now, you're still hot,
not as sure of it but you are,

I can't help but think
I might stumble on a formula
a way to save us all, an endless
party, where our kids go to Harvard,
or better yet start an organic movement
that makes this one seem like a beautiful
stepping stone,

as our eyes meet sparkling
in the beer aisles, wine,
ice cream, cheese cake, watching
our kids try to keep up with our
memories, we can only tell them so
much, as open minded as we freaking
are, we were wild and know better than
to reveal our rock and roll, as our eyes
meet, hit songs fading into the sun set,

still us.
