 Nick Caved In
I was listening to Nick Cave in my room
Letting my head be full of gloom and doom
I went over to the stereo and turned up my favourite song
And I hated everything and everyone and it all felt so wrong
My blood turned black and I felt it boil inside of me
And I grabbed the dagger of my wall, whilst the stereo played ‘Stagger Lee"
My jeans still smelt of cigarettes and my T-shirt had beer stains
An image of a man who was suffering life's pains
As I walked out my door and the next door neighbour said hello
But I slashed his throat, I never even knew the fellow
I walked down to the street where a woman passed me with her kid in a pushchair
But I pushed them both into the oncoming car, without a care
I didn't see the outrage of the driver and the people running to her aid
I just walked on, towards the local park where the children played
As I walked grinning from ear to ear
The mums and the kids would soon feel my hatred and fear
As the little boy played on the swings
All I could hear in my head were evil things
Each scream brought another victim of my madness
As I left my massacre and headed into town, with no sign of sadness
Police were now on the streets looking for me
As another victim, a tramp, fell of the park bench, drinking super T
I went into town and went into a sports shop where I stabbed the man behind the desk
And the teenage Saturday staff girl, where I left the knife in her breast
I stole a crossbow and a hunter's knife
As I slashed my through a crowd of people, killing all life
My fury had overcome me, and darkness was in my eyes
And when the cops shot me dead, it wasn't really a surprise
The newspapers and media printed out my crimes
Never thought I'd make the front page news in The Sunday Times
Movies will be made of me, and my name will live on
Maybe I'll even be recorded in a Nick Cave song?
