In My Heart of Hearts

I look into the dark night sky
So many stars shining
Down the road, I see
A candles light glowing
All around, darkness
I search
for you
Once we were one
My child
My son
Always in my heart
Though I can't see
your eyes
your smile
your love
I wonder if you are
a sparkly, shining star
Can you hear my words
Can you feel my love
If only in your Heart of Hearts
no matter where you are
whether you are near or far
The darkness of it all surrounds me
invades my very existence
Pain, hate, saddness
all so unbearable
As I think of you
You no longer exist
except in a picture
taken long ago
I hear a tinkle of a bell
I feel a soft breeze on my face
Then I know
No matter how far or near
I have no reason for fear
For you, my Child, my Son
You will always be
