This Frozen HeartAs daylight meets darkness temperatures plunge. Flickering flames from scented candles lick the air. Roaring fires tame the frost. Neatly folded afghans rest invitingly upon the sofa's arm. A slight hint of hot cocoa fills the air, tantalizing the senses, inviting warmth and comfort. Fuzzy slippers rest askew beside the hearth. I shiver uncontrollably awaiting your imminent arrival. No raging fire, nor thickest blanket can melt the frost within me. The obvious comforts of home offer me no solace. My frigid heart is thawed only by the deepest warmth and love I feel from you. Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem
