Lesson Of A Solider

*Dedicated to all our soliders, especially my cousin Jacob who was severly injured by a roadside bomb on Sept. 22, 2006*

Lesson Of A Solider

I see the wisdom of the world in your eyes
I see the sadness of a thousand goodbyes
yet you still remain fighting the good fight
because that is your will
underneath the guard
I see cracks in the steel
of times the pain was unbearable
but never the one to complain
you were always the brave one
you were always my hero

and though sad dreams blow through trees
I can still feel your reassuring touch
through the leaves
as they tapped me along my path
it was you who taught me strength
you were the courageous one
to stand up to the tryant
I used to watch so silently by
as the grounds would shake
but foundation you always found
and I am so proud of who you are
how you still inspire me now

so from the distance of a thousand words
you found my heart so completely
I never abandon those dreams so big
I learned that toughness is a asset
gut instincts always winning the bet
you helped me discover myself
because you were never the one to brag
always doing what was needed
just a dedication in case you never did know
you will always be my hero
