I Still Remember

I STILL REMEMBER…
By:  Samantha Fitzgerel

I still remember the warmth of your hand
As it gently stroked my face.
I still remember the safety I felt
In the warmth of your embrace
I still remember the laughter you caused
When you did the silliest things
I remember you whistled while you worked
Or sometimes you would even sing
I remember the terrible pain I felt when
We learned that your were sick
I remember you telling me not to worry
You taught me to fight, to never quit!
I remember the day how lost I was
When you took your very last breath
I remember thinking how radiant you were
No more pain on your face, after death
You are still with me, never far away
You live in a corner of my heart
You give me the strength and the will to fight
Of my survival, you are a big part.
Though you were Mom, you were my best friend
And I will love you till my dying breath
You will wait there for me with open arms
As I take those very last, life steps.
I miss you now and I always will,
But your memory will always be
In the back of my mind, and the smile on my face
More and more like yours, your reminder to me!
