It was love; perfect love
Higher than the heavens above
Deeper than the mighty ocean
Which set God's plan of salvation in motion
Before the stars danced in the sky
In an eternity that is by
Before creation cried in birth
He planned to send His Son to earth
Before mankind had living breath
His beloved Son knew He would taste of death
Before the hills of Earth were trod
He must die for a world loved by God
When God He spoke and time began
Already in place salvation's plan
When sin oppressed a fallen race
Mankind needed saving grace
With tender heart the God of love
Sent His only Son from above
To manger bed; then centre tree
Born to die for you and me
It was love from God to send His Son
It was love from Christ to see it done
Salvation's plan was now complete
The risen Saviour with death and sin in defeat
I love Him now for He loving me
Called so gently; I died for thee
I will prepare for you a place in Heaven above
If you give me your heart and give me your love
What love is this that for sinners lost?
Would see the Father send His Son to pay the cost
To save dying souls for homes above
It is perfect; for God is Love
