~Our Way~

I had a dream I was in school

Reading your autograph

Pages of green in seventh grade

Now like an epitaph alone in your room

With an artist inside of you

You died way too soon,

But I can still feel you warm in a circle of friends

How have you all been

We'd never die, just go through hell and re-group again

So button it down, so the wind won't blow it all away

And pass it around

Like champagne on a holiday

Pass it around

There's a lot of that to go around

~Our Way~

Today I read another tragedy
Another school is taken over
By a Monster from Hell

Not as many died as Columbine
But at least they were grieved for
By the World, By their Familys

Not set aside
Didn't tell the World
It is okay

A 1 room Amish School
Little girls taped together
By the legs, in front of a blackboard

Do you feel their Terror?
No phone there, to get help
"It is Our Way"

From 6 years old 11 little girls
Are Shot, one by one
Can you feel their Horror?

Five didn't suffer
Six are critical

Their parents won't be flown
They must be driven to the many
hospitals, stating
"It is Our Way"

While their dead and suffering
lie in strange places
with strangers

I am so glad I am not them
I am so glad, "Their Way"
isn't mine.

I will grieve for these children
The world will grieve for these little girls
"It is Our Way"

May you all rest in peace sweet children
We won't forget you.
