Vampira

Time has stalled its benediction
By the karmic dread of sin
Yet the wheel of fortune
Turns too for the wicked
And luck can waft on those wily winds
The chill of October can sometimes bring…
Trickling down even to those low places
Where shadows shift
And parasites prevail

Where the air is foul and dead
Supporting only toxic vapors
Too heavy to be levitated
By Earth's sweet atmosphere,
A damp hole populated by gelatinous
Fungal colonies and insects
Composed of the same viscous ilk
Here in the foothills of hell

Ancient timbers shape this vessel
Timeless stone contains it
In this duat I float prone,
My eyes trained to a sky of solid rock
600 years I have waxed in chrysalis
Withering to paper and crust
Here in the silence of my subterranean purgatory
Never to know the peaceful rest of death
Spiraling into the silent patience
Of a single point of thought

Perhaps this will be the day,
When the song of Lilith is heard once more
Screeching through the bare trees
The hollering babble of the Banshee
Whistling through the cracks of all things
Shivering the backs of dead kings
Throttling the chaffed skin of a cold earth
Penetrating the heart of the seed
Like a crude splintered stake

It is then the dead shall rise from their graves
Picking their way through neighborhood yards
And city streets
Swarming the fields and ditches
Crashing the whitewashed picket fences
Of the waking state of human reality
Scrambling hand over foot
To enter this world
Like a torrent of sludge and slime
Creeping and crawling,
Oozing into every gorge and valley
Every unguarded entrance
Every open sore

This will be my time
This is when I shall live again
Gliding, once more, through the crisp night sky
Above the waste and chaos
Then lighting gently, silently
Behind your frightened, huddled body
I'll kiss your soft white nape
And slowly drain that sweet vessel
Of its most precious cargo
But by redeeming this orphaned plasma
We will be together always,
And you will become immortal
And be my princess eternal
And we will forever reside together
Within these gothic cells
Unfettered
Decisive
