The Machine Of War  (In the eyes of the soldier)

The machine of war is rule and bold
It lingers over man with a crow's soul
It's long, dark, slick, and bleak
it breaks down wills when minds can't sleep
It walks proudly among the fruitful fields
and fulfills its thirst with a will to kill
It leaves its foot prints in the sand
with arms and bones and parts of man
It looks for fear and listens for cries
and destroys man's courage before their eyes
Whatever the cause whatever the reason
it doesn't rest in any season
It doesn't know wrong or choose sides
It comes upon man like a mighty tide
and wash them away in the deadly sea
Could this machine be a part of me?
