Tears On Faces

Tears On Faces

Our guns we shoot with the things said
we didn't need any bullets
because harsh words
is like bad actors on Broadway
oh yes a dime a dozen
can't you see we are killing
our fellow neighbors
somebody's mother
somebody's brother
somebody's cousin

bombs of war
is just not in Iraq
the war at home is raging
the shakedown of morals
all the politicans mindlessly debating
and we think movie stars are sexy
they explode in our psyche
celebrity obessessed
so into the newest looks
when is the last time
a teenager read a meaningful book?

so we shoot off missiles
somewhere distant we are forced on this mission
another break of dawn
how many dead...how many missing?
so what direction to take?
somewhere warm and wet?
if only a vacation was the answer
I would be on the beach at daybreak

Our weapons are our power
but we using all the wrong ones
in order to stand like kings
God must be in charge of each turn
and the parties elected
aren't the real answer
if God can't get play on the airwaves
then what is the world coming to in this modern day?

so this is my declaration
written to my friends
to strangers more alike then they ever knew
all it took was to let people in
so much in common
a cry for peace
so much to fight for
our families
I see the flag at half staff again
God these days seems to be doing
so much crying....
