God's Most Beautiful Angel-A Mother's Grief

Primal Scream

Primal Scream

I’m walking through a forest the trees are lush and green.
The silence it was glorious so quiet and serene.
Through the branches the golden sunlight was streaming.
This is a beautiful place…I must be dreaming.

A big blue butterfly passes by.
I dart out from within the shadows to catch it…or at least try.
I stop dead in my tracks…the sound of a snapping twig assaults my ears.
I turn to view the source expecting to see an elk or deer.

Much to my surprise I look out upon a dragon? What the hell is this?!
It’s eyes were black and peered out at me through slits.
I turn to run…uhoh…my feet are stuck in place.
I begin to tremble and a look of fear appears upon my face.

I can smell the fire and brimstone about to burn me to a crisp.
I accepted the fact that I was toast when fate threw me a twist.
Just when I thought that I was gone and my moments left were few
A knight in shining armor was coming to my rescue.

“Well” I thought “How bizarre…but if there’s a dragon why not a knight?”
He drew his sword…the dragon charged…and they began to fight.
I knew the raging battle would last until one was in the grip of death.
As I looked on in horror all I could do was hold my breath.

When the fight was over I heard a primal scream.
I knew the dragon had been vanquished and the knight had reigned supreme.
Now that it was over I wanted nothing else but to see the victors face.
To thank my gallant hero and leave this cursed place.

As the knight approached the cloaking helmet was removed.
I could see my hero’s face and once more I was confused.
Instead of a dark and handsome prince…all I saw was me.
I  had slain the dragon and set my own self free.

The moral of this story…and I will try to keep this brief…
The primal scream I heard so clear was the release of all my grief.
The dragon was my heartache and the knight he was my soul.
As I turned and left I knew that I would once again be whole.
