In Mideast sands where men are lain
The battlefield is, so dark and grey
Uniformed men from parts of the globe
To bleed and die for world's resolve
I don't have wings for I would fly
I have but a wish, to live not die
All I can do is to pray and watch
How the snake's preyed on eagle's clutch
To praise this war, a thought of revenge
To stop the fight is a thought of change
Dimmer is the flame of our burning torch
Now we are responsible who come and go
Watching poppies grow on graves of GI Joe
Who shed their lives in rotten war they fought
A Posthumus Award, medals to hang their walls
No hero's burial, just name on a wooden cross
This war of the world to fight for one man
An elusive beast versus a dictatorial man
Our only wish...a better life to live
A chance for peace in silent tears we fear
