Exodus

Exodus

On the edge of the edge of nowhere
At another spiral galaxy's outer rim
Moored in a neat synchronous orbit
The fleet in formation tidy and trim.
The space elevator in construction
And they working all their worth
To turn this his virgin planet
Into a substitute green earth.

They have cruised for generations
Through the black void of space,
Searching always searching
For their new home place:
The descendants of the chosen
On their Exodus of Despair
No way of knowing now
If Old Earth is still there.

With the rising of the waters
As the temperatures got higher
The struggle to grow the food
The population would require
Caused a rising tension,
Riots and the threat of war
With the great possibility
Law would rule no more.

So they built Arks of Hope
In the orbit of the moon
Filled each huge vehicle full
With its chosen survival platoon;
To save the gene pool of the species
With the lessons all hard learned
They blasted off into the future
All bridges severed and burned.

The surviving Arks have sensed
A world of blue and green
So long has been the journey
First land for eons seen.
The sleepers have been risen
For full life to begin anew
The work is hard but rewarding
With so much to plan and do.
They have started on their mission.
The work is under way
To create another Earth
Where respect holds sway.
On the edge of the edge of nowhere
At another spiral galaxy's outer rim
Moored in a neat synchronous orbit
The fleet in formation tidy and trim.
