 Approach of the nor'easter

  the distant patterns
of galaxies beyond
 the comprehending grasp,
guide thoughts falling
from the eaves of the mind,
like a scene from a
  climatic autumn forest,

 the inner lost innocence,
leans against the outgrown maple,
retracing days on each reflecting wan speck,
against the present tenebrous,

 Alnitak, Alnilam and Mintaka
portions of the belt,
 crisp against the gelid
December twilight,
are the pieces in the physical
that keep the cycle
 of inhalation and exhalation flowing.
