 The Mistress of Word Play

Her Dream to Fly

The dream which consumed her was one day to fly

The dream which consumed her was one day to fly
to sail above her earthbound chains, to touch the sky.
She felt the pull of mighty wings carrying her to a distant land.
Imagination helped her to sail above coastlines of golden sand.

Yet, too soon, reality and obligations brought her back
and she relived the pain of all those things she did lack.
Sometimes when silence touches her fertile, restless mind
she closes her eyes, spreads her wings, and leaves life behind
