Time is not on our side, but love is.
It has seemed fate would have us
grow old and Grey alone. Perhaps If we
had been true to ourselves the love
we've sought would have been sooner
Being picked apart to the very bone, our
concepts of love blown. For their hearts
are like stone. There's nothing worse then
being with someone and feeling
utterly alone.
We know the drill always to feel,
it's someone else whose cup runnith
over, While we became more broken,
short changed and left holding
the bill.
Their motives self serving, with words
and actions designed to make us feel
undeserving. We both have had to do a lot
of emotional purging.
Yes it's true, but to their surprise
even after all the lies, We managed to
survive with love still inside. Because
it's what within us abides.
Time is not on our side, but our love
is. Right from the very start and long after
death we'll find we are not apart.
