This is a special time of day
As the sunset fills the sky
With its cotton candy colors
Such a sweetness to your eye
Though it may not last forever
The memory of it will
When we watch another sunset
Paint another picture still
This is a special time of day
Is what my grandson said to me
Though it isn't just the sunset
But the time we shared you see
How many colors do you see
He waited for my reply
And like most four-year-olds will do
When I answered he asked, why
So then we named all the colors
As I turned and smiled at him
He took my hand with a gentle squeeze
And said, let's do this again
This is such a special time of day
It's one I'll never forget
So why are there so many colors
Because God… made the sunset!
