In The Eyes Of A SonWhen I was a child my mom was there With a gentle love and tender care And as I grew she showed me the way Helping me make the best of each day Without thought for herself she gave me Freedom to dream of what life could be Though many times her heart I would break She loved me in spite of my mistake As time moves forward, my kids are grown With children of their very own I watch them grow as they've just begun I see it all with the eyes of a son Because my mother gave me the chance And leaving nothing to circumstance To explore the world in my own way While giving of herself everyday And because of all she gave to me I now am able to clearly see In my children and their children too My mother's love now starting anew And down the family tree will grow Love, that in me, my mother did sow With a grateful heart I thank you, mom A big part of me you have become If you ever wonder what your love has done The answer is here… …In the eyes of a son!
