Peace

Just a passing stranger
Only an expert would see
Wearing a smile for the world
But inside crying just like me
But I saw it immediately
Spotted her from afar
Across the great gaping chasm
Of that empty hotel bar

She made love anxiously
Sitting there on my knee
Then once or twice more slowly
And then again crying with me
We held each other tightly
Until both back in control
Just for that moment two disparate
Desperate halves made a whole

Just a passing stranger
I never asked her name
Didn't need to know
Knew she felt the same
But just for a few moments
Of passion and release
Each gave the other hope
Each gave the other peace
