A Gardeners Pride

Decending out onto the verandah
Last night I guess it rained~
I sit into that old cain chair
Gazing onto a garden so well maintained~
Well rolled and cut lawns they spread away
Down each side of patched garden path~
Centred by that old sun dial
Surrounded by a sandstone harth~
Bearded Iris my favourite flower
Large roses still holding dew~
The hollyhocks and rows of phlox
And in the foreground pom poms colored blue~
Violets growing of a day in shade
Foxgloves tall and beautiful there~
Simply endless beauty all around me
Planted with a keen gardeners care~
I sit and gaze upon perfection
At a garden well maintained~
Freshness how it fills the air
And .. Yes last night it rained~
African violets here beside me
Protected some from there outside~
As I sit and gaze at all this beauty
I feel the feeling of a gardeners pride~
