When They Were BabiesMum she had the babies Dad always got up at night~ Mum she had them all day long At night they'd cry out for dad too right~ As dad would hold them near his chest And sing songs soft and low~ They snuggle in and go back to sleep They knew dad he loved them so~ Mum she was the master in charge And dad he was for them just a sook~ If babies cried late at night Dad was up and right there that is all it took~ Of course mum got very used to this Go ask your father she would say~ Mum was always the boss and how They knew with dad they'd get their way~ But daddy was their caring softy An easy prey for the baby~ Dad was so easy to fool it seemed There was never a wait a minute or maybe~ But they all grew up ever so fast And how soon they do all forget~ That dad was always there for them They were always daddies little pet~ Now they are grown and have babies too And dad often wonders it is true~ If the daddies of their babies Get up to the little ones like he used to do~ Terrence Michael Sutton Copyright 2007 Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem
