 Age 6

Night after night
I suffered from
A horrible fright

I ran and ran
Faster and faster
It wasn't a man

Awakened in the night
Breathless and scared
Switched on the light

A bad dream or a nightmare
Traumatic frame of time
To sleep I couldn't dare

Leapt from the bed
Searched the closet
To dream, I dread

I cover my face with a spread
Thinking he can't get me
Not wanting to wake up dead

In my mind….

Howlin' as he chases me
A wolf with big teeth
On an old noisy tractor

Big teeth and long ears
Little red riding hood
Is that where I got my fears?
