What could be more of a poet's life true
But that words of their pen's endeavor
To capture a thought for others to view
That their words should live on forever
If but for praise a poem I should write
And that if praise to me is received
Then shall not the reward be my delight
But hasn't with pride my pen been deceived
Inspiration is truly just a gift
To bring life to a thought with each word
A life that many a spirit can lift
When at last inspiration is heard
To all the poets of old I applaud
Now that pride cannot silence your pen
In so many hearts your words have been awed
Of gifts inspiration gave you then!
