What is it
That popped into my mind
This week…
It was this question.
What's the difference between a quick death
And a slow death?
Why is one ok and not the other?
Why is it legal to sell poison?
Why is it legal to consume things
That produce slow suicide
As opposed to a quick one.
Why is it that it's humane
To kill animals that are in pain
And inhumane
To give those who are
Elderly and in pain
The dignity they deserve.
Why is it
Animals deserve
More love and
Rights than humans do?
So I ask again,
What is it with America?
Cheeseburgers with polysaturated fats vs. shotguns
Marlboro REDS vs. Ultraslims 120's
Exercise vs. potato couch marathons
Compassion vs. Self righteous indignation
Hypocrisy vs. knowing in your gut,
It's the right thing to do,
Because the morphine drip
Is the only thing stopping the pain long enough
To push the button every minute and thirty seconds,
Because some @ssh0le
On some delusional moral high ground,
Thinks this Existence
Is what God wants.
We don't even allow
This kind of punishment
For criminals,
And the innocent
Are treated criminally.
So, What is it with America?
Apathy is easier than action,
Same as always.
Red tape has more power
Than the people.
The profit margin
On the pharmaceuticals
Offering prolonged
Painful life
And insurance polices
Makes more money
Than people who have been
Released from life.
The Almighty Dollar
Is the true God of America…
The proof is written
On our money.
In God We trust.
Funny how no matter
What's wrong with America
This week,
The reason is always the same.
