In the cheery wood fire I can see
days of joy that used to be.
Winter eves of yesterdays
when friends sat before the blaze.
We could laugh at the rough weather
in our comradeship together!
Wild winds that blew about
the stormy world without,
shaking roof and rafter,
could not still our laughter,
snug, safe and secure
amid our comforts sure,
happy to be together
in any sort of weather!
