Amongst reminisces of my distant youth
Where love and kindness supremely reigned
Childhood of innocence, respect and truth
Not yet with life's transgressions stained
Always with friends in the open air
Where the sun for us nearly always shone
Wondrous times without fear or care
Calm summer days so warm so long
Exploring the ruins of a watermill
Catching newts in a secret pond
Climbing the crest of the steepest hill
Just curious to know what lies beyond
Laying in a field of new mown hay
Lazily dreaming of things to do
Wandering home with the suns last ray
Head filled with thoughts of adventures new
When just a youth I larked and played
With chums and pals neath a clear blue sky
Now just memories constantly replayed
Hopefully never to fade and die
