The once moisting ground is now dry as it could ever be. Seems like we haven't had a rain cloud in days, months, or years. It is cracked with lines like your skin when it's dry without any lotion to soothe it.
It's a dead hot summer out here, too hot to stay outside and get a tan.
Everyone is thirsting for water but there is none to be found. All the wells are dried up and all the creeks and ponds are bare. Something is gone wrong but nobody knows what. People and animals are dying one by one of a heatstroke, of thirst but there's nothing any of us can really do.
Mirages of water holes are seen but it's nothing more than pure dirt. The sun is beating hard down upon our backs as the sweat just pours off of us. Almost feels as if we're outside in a dessert but we're only in our backyards. The Air Conditions have quit and our power has just went out.
We pray to God to give us some water, some air, power or something but nothing seems to happen. Our mouths are dry and there is no spit for us to swallow to cool our throats, to moisten our tongues. Miserable, we began to pray to God again for we won't give up. Finally, a cool breeze blows.
We thank God for the outside air he has provided us. Out of nowhere and only by a miracle preformed by God, we start to see water spring up from the cracks in the hardend dirt that is now moist soil. Drinking as much water as we can and all soaking wet, we sing our praises to the Almighty.
The power in the house comes back on as our air conditions start running again. Though we can't bring back the dead animals or the deceased people, we're glad that we're alive. Still not knowing what has caused this dry heat, we once again pray to the Heaven's above for we now know all things are possible to those who believe.
