My Life In Words
Grandpa
Grandpa, You left too soon,
I thought you could lasso
the moon.
Grandpa, was it something
I said?
As you rested there in
your bed.
Now the blankets are
pulled up,
And there is no coffee
in your cup.
All I have left is a
handful of memories,
Like the time I took
your picture and I'm
the one that said cheese.
All those times you played
on the merry-go-round,
And made sure I wouldn't
fall to the ground.
All those times when Mom
and Dad didn't understan'
I'd come to you because
you were The Man.
Chasing us around in the
yard like you were young,
Making us laugh with
the songs you sung.
Grandpa, I know your
safe now and far from
harm,
I know God loves you
because you've got
such charm.
I would like to thank
you, granpa,
For all the little things
you did and that little
doll.
I would like to say again
I love you,
And when I see you again
we'll do again everything
we use to do.
